In our blog series “Life in Adtech” we’re showcasing the different ways in which StackAdapters are driving innovation in adtech, and creating a progressive tech culture. From using modeling and data to create advanced algorithms to building stylish and robust user interfaces, everyone at StackAdapt is contributing to evolving the StackAdapt platform and providing the best product and service to our clients.

This month features Pinar Ozyetis, General Counsel at StackAdapt. Pinar shares her journey into adtech, what her role entails, and how the Legal team supports the growth and success of StackAdapt.

Can you share a bit about your journey into working in the legal field, and what drew you to this career?

I actually studied science before going to law school. The study and practice of law requires logic, analytical skills, persistence, and advocacy, which felt like a natural segue from my science education before it. I was also drawn to the legal profession for the diverse career opportunities it presents, in virtually every industry. I felt like studying law would open a lot of doors, and it has.

Tell us about your role as General Counsel. What does an average day look like for you?

Part of what’s great about being General Counsel is that every day is totally, completely, different. Depending on the needs of our clients and the business, the issues that crop up on any given day can range. Where we are in the year, for example, strategy planning, or finishing year end projects, will impact what I’m working on.

Recruitment needs, supporting or providing mentorship to the team, keeping up with continuing professional development, recent legal developments, and industry news can all factor into what a day in General Counsel looks like. It can feel chaotic some days, and it takes discipline to stay focused on moving the “big rocks,” but it’s an extremely rewarding and fulfilling career.

How does the Legal team support the growth and success of StackAdapt?

The Legal team at StackAdapt strives to be true business enablers and trusted partners. Our team works to get to know StackAdapters and their priorities. This way, we can support other teams in providing the best possible experience for our colleagues and StackAdapt clients. Plus, everyone on the team is a lovely person, and they add to the strong, healthy culture at StackAdapt!

Who do you most collaborate with within the organization, and what do you like most about this collaboration?

The Legal team is in the unique spot of collaborating with teams all across the business, at every level. This gives us a holistic view of StackAdapt, its mission, strengths, and opportunities.

What advice do you have for people looking to work in the legal field?

Align yourself with leaders who support your growth, who care about you as a person, and who want the very best for you. Look for immediate leaders to inspire you, and who make you want to be your best self at work every day. While day-to-day legal work or your area of expertise is important for engagement in the short term, longer term, leadership is so pivotal to your success. Give it the necessary weight!

What is the most exciting part about working on the Legal team at StackAdapt?

So much excites me about working at StackAdapt! A highlight has been the ability to create the team from the ground up. We’ve been able to hire people who have not only excellent legal skills, but great personalities, and it’s an honour to work together in contributing to the overall growth and success of StackAdapt.
